(it was always worth it to see the kids excitement) Although it is not required, it really changes up the routine and keeps the kids on their toes. As a supervisor, I would spend some of my own money at walmart and the dollar store for games/activities in mind (chalk, paint, beach balls etc). You must maintain your energy throughout the summer and think of fun things to do on MINIMAL supplies. This can be very stressful for people- my staff included. If you are not, than you are typically told the Thursday of the week before where you will be placed/if you have work at all since it depends on enrollment. Job security is pretty much 100% if you are a supervisor.
